All you need to know about Diesel Generators

Before starting your new Generating Set -Things to test
Please make sure you read the instructions within the manual, and then the engine and alternator manuals. You must read all the instructions. The generating set you've gotten purchased will give you satisfactory operation for a very long time provided you follow the instructions.

Please note the following points:
· Check the fuel tank could have been filled, before starting.
· Certify the 13 amp supply to the battery charger and water heater are connected.
· Check the control panel for any damage, prior to starting.
· Check the radiator for visible leaks and damage, before starting.
· Check the batteries for visible leaks and damage, prior to starting.
· Check the engine for visible leaks and damage, before starting.
· Make certain that the battery could have been correctly filled to the levels required, as they are normally shipped in a much dry condition.
· If the engine is fitted having a water separator, drain the water from the separator. Make sure that the fuel is turned on, and that the fuel system have been bled.
· Where to Fill or check the fuel oil level.
· Where to Fill or check the lubricating oil level.
· Where to Fill or check the water level.

Start the engine via way of the key start, start push-button or duty selector switch once you are sure that the engine is in the satisfactory condition.

Check for any possible leaks or hidden damage which may have occurred during transport before loading the engine.

Is the generator on LEVEL hard standing? After you are satisfied that the engine is running correctly, you may load the engine and run in accordance with the engine operator's instructions.

AMF or ATS panel refers to the automatic mains fail panel. Get acquainted with either this or the manual start.

Starting a Generating Set for this First time

Either hand or electric starting will operate a prime/base load diesel generators diesel generators set. Please visit the engine instruction book for a hand start engine, which will advise on decompression for that specific engine.

Starting and stopping of the unit is facilitated by way of a start/stop push-button on electric start units, located on the control panel or a key switch. Pushing the suitable start/stop push-button or turning the important thing change to a start position will start and stop the unit.

Identify the control panel settings by checking the set visually.Observe whether automatic start without any manual intervention is programmed into the set.
