Existing With Tonsil Stones

By: Debra Wenger

Having tonsil stones is probably one of the least acknowledged conditions that a individual can suffer. These frequently concealed, very odorous particles are rarely talked about or even mentioned by the people we know or who we are close to. It appears that individuals are not inclined to admit that they have these bothersome stones in their mouths.

The obscurity of tonsil stones has even led some doctors to misdiagnose them as tonsillitis or infection of the tonsils. The stones, which usually are white in color, can be mistaken for tonsillitis when they are protruding from the tonsillar crevices. With tonsil stones, there is an absense of swelling as there would be with tonsillitis. But nevertheless, a few doctors who do not want to risk allowing patients off the hook, prescribe antibiotics to "combat" the "perceived infection". But prescription medication will do nothing to get rid of tonsil stones, which are calcified particles produced in the openings of the tonsils, because infection does not trigger them.

Having to live with tonsil stones can be significantly more difficult than one might think. The difficulties brought on by the stones such as swallowing problems and having the strange feeling of having something in your throat are nothing major, but they can still have an undesirable effect on your life. The stones are known for their really terrible odor, and because they are situated near the windpipe, the odor they give off mixes with a person's breath. But do not be worried at all. The stones can be eradicated. You can obtain all the answers you need in many books and also on the world wide web.
