GEOMETRY CONCEPTS An acute angle has measure less than 90 degrees. A right triangle has measure equal to 90 degrees. An obtuse angle has measure greater than 90 degrees. A straight angle has measure 180 degrees. Two angles are supplementary if their angle sum is 180 degrees. Two angles are complementary if their angle sum is 90 degrees. Perpendicular lines meet at right angles. When parallel lines are cut by a transversal, alternate interior angles are equal. When parallel lines are cut by a transversal, corresponding angles are equal. When parallel lines are cut by a transversal, interior angles on the same side of transversal are supplementary. A triangle with two equal sides is called isoceles triangle. A triangle with all sides unequal is called scalene triangle. A triangle with all sides equal is called equilateral triangle. GEOMETRY FORMULAS Area of square = A x A where A is the lemgth of side. Perimeter of square = 4 x A where A is the lemgth of side. Area of Circle = PI x R x R where PI=3.14 and R is radius of circle. Area of an Ellipse = PI x A x B where PI=3.14 Circumference of circle = 2 x PI x R where PI=3.14 and R is radius of circle. Area of a parallelogram = W x H where W is width and H is height. Area of a trapezoid = 1/2 x (a+b) x H where A and B are length of two sides and H is height. Area of a triangle = 1/2 x B x H where B is base and H is height. Area of a rectangle = W x H where W is width and H is height. The Perimeter of a circle is called the circumference.
