How I Started My Career in Cruise Ship Speaking

It was 2005 and I was bit by bit killing myself.

Not literally of course, but it felt that way. I was existing in severe
hotel rooms, boisterous airports, and bland conference rooms. This is what
the majority of speakers regard as "successful".

Hah! It was making me insane.

I loved giving my message in front of an audience of course. Whether performing or presenting there is still nothing more thrilling than stepping onto a stage with a mic in your hand and making
a cherished joint experience.

However spending your life going after engagements every time, continually marketing to event planners, getting fixed in airports and in traffic,
and stressing out on the way to the venue? I'd had enough of that.

Yes, I was creating a impressive existence, but I was operating waaaay too difficult to take pleasure in it. Then I discovered a speaking career that exactly gave
me my life back... cruise ships!

Cruise Ships Gave Me My Existence Back

In the last few years my wife and I have been able to take over 100
cruises, to exotic destinations all over the world, more often than not functioning
merely 3 hours a week, and getting paid great money to complete it.

We have cruised for free to:
o The Caribbean
o The Mediterranean
o Every island in Hawaii
o Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora
Bora
o Alaska and the Inside
Passage
o Brazil
o Singapore
o Thailand
o England
o Ireland
o France
o Belgium
o Norway
o Denmark
o Bermuda
o Jamaica
o Belize
o Columbia
o The Bahamas
o Both coasts of Mexico
o All over Central and South
America
o Costa Rica
o The Panama Canal
o Australia and New Zealand
o Italy
o Spain
o Turkey
o Monaco
o The Greek Isles
o And many more exotic
places.

All that travel and exploit would have customarily cost us hundreds
of thousands of dollars, but as a guest of the cruise lines we've done
it all for free.

Not only that, but the 3 hours of "work" I trade for this staggering

daily life are some of the highly fun and rewarding experiences I've
ever had in my existence. Why toil so hard going after the same speaking
markets each one does when cruise ships present such low?

Real Success = Freedom

I did not recognize that this everyday life was even doable or I would have done
it years ago. My wife Suzy and I have been performing and speakingon cruise ships for years now and have taken over 100 cruises.

Before I started in this market I was living in Los Angeles being
"successful". Which in this business means airborne anywhere,
staying in hotel rooms, and most of the time on the telephone and the email with
clients, trying to order one gig after the other.

Be cautious what you ask for in this business. You become experienced,
and then you become highly busy, and then you begin to be unable to find the quality
of your life. That picture didn't make sense to me.

Thus I made a substantial transformation. I chose to make life an exhilarating exploration
and tour the globe, have other people pay for it, and work two or
three hours a week.

I'm in reality just signed up for two hours a week as a guest performer,
nevertheless I want to throw in that extra third hour as an enrichment lecturer
for the reason that I be able to make more from speaking in that third hour than I do
from performing in the first two!

My First Booking

So what happened was, I got booked on my first cruise exactly as a
guest entertainer. I went through a representative rather than submitting
exactly to the cruise line. Representatives can be useful for entertainers, but
speakers should really transact with the cruise lines directly.

That first cruise ship event was just about four years ago now and seems
like a distant memory.
