Ideas for Skin Care Regimens for Me

By: Shelly Brown

Gender knows no distinction when it comes to proper skin care. American society thinks of skin care as a "girl thing", so not many men (or teenage boys) take care of their skin beyond washing with soap and water, especially when it comes to protecting their skin from the sun and other elements. A woman's skin does seem to be more delicate than a man's skin, but that does not mean that men's skin is completely indestructible. Just like women, men experience skin problems like acne and breakouts. So it is equally as important for men to take good care of their skin as it is for women. Here are some men's skin care tips that you can use to help you get started.

Your entire body is covered in skin and needs attention. While it is true that most skin care routines focus on the face, it is important that you take care of the rest of your skin as well. Good hygiene is an important part of skin care. Even though numerous men believe that avoiding the shower for a day or a few days is not significant. But, your skin needs cleaned daily in order to avoid illness and the spread of bacteria. Cleaning your skin every day is not an optional activity. Using a good body wash goes a long way in making sure your skin is as clean as possible. Buy a body wash which will moisturize, and not only exfoliate. This is one of the best ways to keep your whole body healthy.

Do you know how to shave properly? Shaving creams and lotions are not optional. The best way to shave is to first rinse your face in hot water and then apply a healthy layer of shaving cream or shaving lotion. The creams and lotions are designed to make your whiskers plump up, so letting them sit on your face for a few minutes actually helps you shave. After letting the cream sit, then you can shave the cream and those scratchy whiskers off your face. Use a sharp blade so that you won't risk cutting yourself or accidentally scraping your skin. Close shaves come from sharp razors, and the closer the shave the more comfortable you will feel when you are done shaving.
Consider giving yourself an exfoliating treatment a couple of times a week. Shaving makes it unnecessary for men to exfoliate their skin as often as women, but men still need to exfoliate to keep their skin free of pore clogging agents. Your skin can look younger by simply using a gentle exfoliating product two or three times a week. Exfoliating removes the dead and old cells that could clog your pores and cause you to break out more than if you were exfoliating regularly.

Men can practice proper skin care in so many ways. Some will choose simply to buy a men's skin care kit. Other men will utilize whichever products their woman lover has around the bathroom. If you are serious about taking proper care of your skin, then you need to develop your own routine that fits your skin type and lifestyle.

A good skin care regimen can be done easily a few minutes each night. That's what you heard; you only have to put in a couple of minutes to keep healthy looking skin. So, when are you going to start?
