TV transmission technology has been changing fast over the last few years. The old analogue transmission method (which is still in use today in many places) has been replaced by digital transmission. What this change has done is to open up all sorts of possibilities for transmitting and watching TV. Once the program is in digital form it can be shown on any device that handles the digital format. For some while now, internet TV has been gaining momentum and nowadays a significant number of viewers are switching to internet or IPTV. You may already be familiar with downloading movies on the internet and replaying them at your leisure. You can do this with some TV programs, but the better option is streaming TV or IPTV. IPTV stands for Internet Protocol TV which is basically the format the pictures are sent over the internet. Live TV is generally sent using IPTV techniques so that you can watch live events as they happen anywhere in the world. There are plenty of smart people who have given up their regular satellite connection because they prefer internet TV. The reasons for doing this are compelling. Current internet TV packages are offering between 3,000 and 5,000 channels. When you watch live TV on the Internet, you will have literally thousands of international channels to select from, and the number keeps increasing every month. You can save a lot of money by using internet TV. No more monthly or yearly subscription fees of any sort. After a small initial investment which will be less than two months' subscription fees, you will never have to pay again. The selection of channels is bewildering. There are channels available that you cannot receive any other way. There are speciality channels, foreign language channels, sports, etc, etc, etc. Even if you think you have the best cable TV provider, or the best deal for satellite TV, there must be channels that you want to see that you cannot now. Controversial news and other channels and other private channels will be available to you only on the Internet. Digital transmission removes all the low quality transmissions that we have been used to with normal TV. You no longer have to worry about snowy pictures because the satellite bowl is not installed properly, nor will you have to risk life and limb to install one. You can watch live TV on the Internet with none of this trouble, because you just need your laptop or your desktop and a good broadband connection. You will not have to worry about the storms, mountains or tall buildings messing up your time with your favorite programs. If you are fluent in languages other than English, you will want to watch some of your favorite programs from your home country or in the language you are most comfortable with. With internet TV, you can see any channel you want, some in alternative languages. Learning a foreign language just got a lot cheaper because this is a great option to learn while having fun. In addition, there are new cultures that you can vist|check out] without leaving home. There is now little difference between a TV screen and a PC screen. Most LCD screens have at least dual sockets and can be used as a normal TV as well as a PC screen. So the same screen does two jobs - another superb money saving advantage. Many sellers promote free internet TV but there is usually a minor initial charge to get the software you download onto your PC in order to receive the channels. After that however, it is free no more costs. Upgrades should be included in your initial charge. The only decision you need to get right is picking the right supplier out of the many that are springing up from nowhere. I have spent quite some energy checking out the suppliers and have now settled on a couple which work extremely well.
