South East Montessori Nursery 40 Ivanhoe Road Camberwell London SE5 8DJ Nurseries in Camberwell South East Montessori Nursery was founded by the Headmistress Rev (DR) Rosamond Jones-King on the 2nd January 1992. "Our aim is to give a joyful and safe surroundings, a place where all our kids are made to feel welcome, and where parents and staff work in a association for the benefit of all children who attend. The nursery is designed to bring out the best in your baby by using the Montessori Method" "Our kids prepare for the world in which they will live and work. We think they need to be lifelong learners, adapt rapidly to fresh situations, work efficiently with other people and think creatively. They learn self-confidence, independence, honesty and a sense of responsibility for themselves and other people. They also have vast fun and are extremely happy" Rev (DR) Rosamond Jones-King The Montessori Method is a philosophy of preschooler development that employs a practical way of achieving its aims. The method allows the children to progress at their own pace. Hence, the children have the opportunity to learn without interruption. Furthermore, this method of learning allows the kids to move forward a greater sense of independence and self-confidence. “Kids enjoy their time at the nursery school. Children arrive happy, and are eager to participate. Children are settled and established good quality relationships with the staff. They responded well to staff and benefit from the stable relationships.” Ofsted Report 2007 The South East Montessori Pre school is a Christian School, but we also accept other faiths. Since the birth of the Nursery school, it has provided a Montessori and traditional education to meet the needs of our kids. One of our earlier students is at Brunei University doing medicine and another student is studying forensic science. Because of the foundation which we give, all our children do extremely well when they leave for their chosen schools. We aim to advice them advance physically cognitively, spiritually, socially and emotionally. We recognise that these are the important formative years and therefore supply a range of activities, which will advice your child to move forward to their maximum potential. They will be taught all aspects of the Desirable Learning Outcomes, which covers - Language and literacy, Mathematics, Wisdom and Understanding of the world, Personal and Social Skills, Physical and Creative Skills. The children also participate in other curriculum activities e.g. Science, Geography, History, French, Music, Art, Drama, Stories, Cooking, Ballet, Reading, Computer Activities and Outings. “Children say excellent morning to their friends on arrival and welcome them into the activity. Children move around the nursery school confidently and take part in a choice of activities, which they participate and contribute to positively. Kids are confident in their faith and share this with others. For example, a preschooler stated “I love my Jesus my daddy," and another baby responded to her by saying "He's everybody's Jesus." Ofsted Report 2007 Our nursery school is beautifully decorated throughout, with the children’s work on show. We have crammed every wall with the kids’s creations of which they are all awfully proud to show the nursery visitors and one another. We have invested in some beautiful equipment for the kids to assist with the interesting activities we do each day. We have a writing and computer area for the children to focus and thrive on additional skills as well as an art and craft area to have excitement getting messy! Our home corner is themed according to our planning and there is a dressing up rail where they can pick from a lot of different costumes to put on. We have designed our classrooms especially to develop key areas of the children’s education whether on a one to one basis or as a group.
