PRS Electric Guitars

By: Steve Miller

Listed below are a couple of guitar companies which can be well known for their quality and their record of celeb guitarists. PRS Guitars are one such business. Paul Reed Smith, owner and inventor of PRS Guitars, finished his first guitar while he was a scholar at St. Marys School in Maryland. He continued to build electric guitars following school and after he accomplished one, he would bring it to live shows and convince the musicians to sample them out and give him feedback.

Paul Reed Smith in time encountered Carlos Santana. The top result of this encounter was that Santana ended up demoing out his guitars. (He tried 3 total.) Santana was dazzled, and this ultimately altered the path of Paul Reed Smith's existence. Santana put Smith in touch with a person named Ted McCarty, who ultimately grew to become his teacher.

Ted McCarty is a veteran of the guitar business. He was the leader of Gibson Guitars for a number of years and he invented the Gibson ES-335, Flying V, and the Gibson Explorer guitars. Like Santana, McCarty also realized that PRS had talent and took him under his arm. The two collaborated and created a series of guitars together. These electric guitars are now added in the PRS Guitars line.

Perhaps this was a result of McCarty's partnership with Smith that ultimately lead to the trouble. Nevertheless, Gibson sued PRS Guitars over their Singlecut guitars, that they assterted had been significantly just like the Gibson Guitars Les Paul design. Eventually Gibson Guitars lost the case, however PRS guitars could not make the electric guitars while the courtroom case proceeding. But the case was decided in Paul Reed Smith and McCarty's PRS guitars favor.

PRS Guitars have a list of current inventory models and personal stock of PRS guitars that are all listed on their official website. There are the Singlecut PRS guitars that had been previously mentioned, the PRS guitar SE Series which is a lower end model and slightly cheaper, the PRS SE Torero, 513 Rosewood, and the Santana SE Guitar. However, these are just a few examples for the extensive list supplied on the site.

There have been a variety of famous guitarists who've played PRS guitars. These include Al DiMeola, Carlos Santana, Peter Lindgren, Dave Navarro, Tim Mahoney, Mark Tremont, Larry Lalonde of Primus, Larry Hanson of Alabama, Neal Schon of Journey, Rich Williams of Kansas, Vince Neil of Motley Crue and Steve Stevens with Billy Idol. Here is what one person had to say about their PRS Guitar:

In regards to the PRS guitars Custom 20th Anniversary

I like the way this guitar looks. I had sought after a quilt finish guitar, however the actual specification would have taken 3-four months on a special order and cost tons more, so I bought this one, and have not regretted it for a minute. Fabulous full tones - as soon as I took it to the very first rehearsal, everyone in the band could tell the change (had formerly been playing US Standard Stratocaster and Les Paul Studio). Lighter tone than the Les Paul, yet so adaptable. The tone control is useable and the decision between single/double wound pups creates a real variation. Amazing.
