Purchasing Locally: Where Should You Purchase A Vacuum?

By: Andrew Seese

We are using vacuum cleaners as our example, but this idea applies to several sorts of product.
Local retailers virtually always advocate purchasing locally. As expected, this is in their self interest. But there actually are benefits to purchasing from local dealers.
You can typically save a few bucks shopping online. This initial savings gets less attractive after you contemplate buying from local merchants from a merchant you can actually talk to.

These are a few of the benefits to buying locally;
1) You can grasp what you are purchasing and are going to be able to ascertain if it's in reality what you needed.
2) You can typically try what you buy, or at least see it presented in some way.
3) You will be able to ask specialized questions that you would not think about if the product were not in front of you.
4) If you ever need service, your local supplier is more likely to provide you with exceptional service, than would be an internet vendor who has not actually met you.
5) You will be able to call the local vendor if you have questions, and ask questions with the product in front of you as a point of reference.
6) There will be no telephone tag when you visit a local dealer.
7) There will be no shipping expenses or distribution delays.
Nearly all local retail business owners (and a correctly qualified employees) are very familiar about their product categories. They are not only faceless internet order takers.

Plus the best benefit you have when dealing with a local vendor is that they can provide you with the precise product for your circumstances. This may save you a small amount of money, or it may cost you a trifling more. But the thing you get will be the one that fits your needs. You are not only shopping from a clerk. You are receiving guidance from a trusted advisor.

Moreover, there are dangers shopping on the web that you will not have when purchasing from a local retail business. Your local store owner is easy to find. The internet dealer would possibly not be a vendor at all. The product you pay money for may possibly be a "scratch & dent" model bought for pennies on the dollar, by the supplier, to be resold for a small savings to you. The online dealer may really not have a real brick and mortar business after all. They could be working out of a temporary office, or out of a PO Box, and a cell phone. You simply cannot be positive.

You are far less apt to be treated unjustly by a local dealer. Word spreads around quickly when gossip is spread locally. Local small retail business owners cannot afford the bad reviews. Just one bad point-of-view read in the local paper could destroy a local small business. Local businesses have more invested in keeping you contented.

Next, let us not forget. This works both ways. It could be to your advantage to do your shopping from local merchants. But it is actually also to your advantage to shop locally if you yourself own a local retail business. Every community keeps money in
distribution by purchasing from the other.

Cheery purchasing.
