The focus on cleanliness in hospitals and other medical facilities frequently relates to actual patients' rooms and surfaces. A facility's cleaning personnel will often spend hours per day sterilizing counter tops, bedding, floors, bathrooms, etc. While cleaning the surfaces is extremely important, it doesn't address the problem of airborne biological organisms.
