Tax Auckland- Finding The Best Accountants

When your money is involved a key ingredigent to your success is certainly going to be your accountant. So it vitally important that you need to find a great accountant. Accounting is almost a mandatory part of everyone’s personal business.

Now that we have established that we all need an accountant, how do we find the best possible accountant.

Firstly, in order to find an accountant it is important to set out a checklist of what you are looking for from your accountant. Compile your checklist then call a few firms with your questions.

We have set out 6 key points that we need for our accoutant to have. These questions should make part of your own checklist that you should be asking your accountant:

Question 1 - What qualifications and accreditation do they have?

This maybe a suprise to certain people however anyone can be called an accountant so also make sure you see their qualifications. Also you should make sure that these qualifications are acceptable to your country. For example qualifications in United Kingdom will differ from those in New Zealand.

Question 2- What reference can they provide you with, in terms of clients that they currently have on their books?

Speaking directly to current clients is always valuable, as first hand experience is very important. When you speak to this Client, you want to know things like how reliable, prompt and proactive your potential Accountant has been; whether they explain things clearly, seem good value for money, and have produced any good ideas. Keep in mind though; you are only likely to get the names of friendly Clients!

Qestion 3- How will be managing my account?

Make sure that you meet the accountant that will be dealing with your finances. Having a solid relationship with your accountant is crucial, and make sure that you have constant contact with them. You should have your accountant active before the end of the tax year so that you can make any relevant investments prior to the tax year closing

Question 4 – Is it okay to come and have a look at the offices?

Looking at the office is important to help you ascertain the quality, nature and scope of the Accountant's practice. Be very careful of an accountant working from run-down premises or if they are located within a serviced office. Then again, you should enquire closely about the fees of someone with conspicuously lavish premises! Having an accountant that works from home is a concern.

Question 5 – So how long the business has been operating for?

If your tax is not simple then find the best accountant possible with experience. Don't just take their word for it; make sure you ask for evidence. Always ensure that you check how long the accounting firm has been in business for.

Question 7- Why should I work with your accounting firm?

Ask the accountant straight out, why should I use your firm. The accountant should be able to give you a comprehensive list of why their accounting firm should be used.

Having a well structured checklist will certainly help you find a better accountant and hopefully improve your tax refund.
