There are several lighting fixtures out there that you can buy, but none of them can add style like the antique chandelier can. Sure there might be more modern ones, but really, can any of them provide this sense of class? Crystal and glass is a material that had been developed on an island called Murano. It was an island off the coast of Italy in 1450. Since that time, people have been fascinated with the twinkle and colors caught in the expansive array of cut crystal that brings an aura of beauty to areas deserving only the best. The Murano glass chandelier is still in production today by Barovier & Toso, one of the oldest companies in the world. Swavorski is another highly recognized name in crystal. In 1892, Daniel Swavorski, a skilled glasscutter, invented a machine revolutionized the art of glass cutting. After this patent was put into effect and other companies began duplicating, possessing a crystal antique chandelier became quite popular though still very costly. If you want a crystal chandelier today, then you can get them from antique shops or other stores that sell refurbished items. We are living in a time where antiques are becoming popular once again, and many people choose them for their in-house decorating. Yes, you could use standard lights, but the crystal chandeliers provide a light that is like nothing else. They sparkle, they give off unique colors, and they cannot be matched by a mass produced light. What you have here is a chandelier that was made by hand, and each one of them is unique. There are a few chandeliers that stand out among the others, and the ones that are made by Adolf Schonbek are among them. These are created in 1870's Bohemia, and it started when a person opened his own chandelier company. His resources were the best crystal in Bohemia, and you can still find his works of art hanging in places such as Buckingham Palace and the White House. A lot of his work was lost however, when the Nazi party took over Germany. None of the parts in these chandeliers are mass produced. They are all created by hand by a man of talent. Even though his business was purchased by Swavorski in 2007, people remember the rich heritage that closely follows this great company, and wish to own a piece of it's history. These are only a few examples of creative craftsmen who have left their mark on the world. Several others exist from France, Germany, Italy, Canada and the United States. Study your crystal or visit a site that refurbishes antique chandeliers to find out what is available. With one of these crystal antique chandeliers in your establishment, you will feel a presence, and that is a presence from a time that passed a long time ago. It is a time that we can never get back, but we can experience it through these great lighting fixtures and works of art. It's impossible to tell what these chandeliers might have witnessed over their long lives.
