By: Jana Skrben

SPA Frantiskovy Lazne was established in 1793. Due to its neoclassical spa buildings & pavilions Frantiskovy Lazne preserved the rare atmosphere of the early 20th century &. The town is regarded as one of the most charming spa town in the land.
The Frantiskovy Lazne (Franzienbad) district offers very moderate climate, fresh air and quiet city life. Many parks all-around the town with its promenades are a great location for restful walks. All these conditions add to the remedial effects of the local mineral water so as to every year attract many spa-goers.

Natural Therapeutic Sources of Frantiskovy Lazne:

21 sources containing mineral water rich in minerals & sulphur, mud with fe, and natural gas are used to treat illnesses of the cardio and locomotor systems, gynecological problems and sterility. Local resources are also used for healing of patients after heart attacks.
The genuine treasure of Franzienbad (Frantiskovy Lazne) are 20 mineral sources (Glauber's springs) used for drinking as well as for baths. The health spa resort is based on rich deposits of sulphurous ferric peat bog, that is suitable for baths as well as wraps. A natural leak of carbon dioxide is also regularly used for curing.

The local mineral waters are alkaline, salty & saturated with carbon dioxide. The oldest spring is the Frantisek Spring, recognized already in the 14th century & accurately documented in 1793. The most significant are the Glauber's sources number I, II, III & IV. The last one wells up from the depth of 93 meters underground and has the maximum content of Glauber salt in the world.

The waters from the Glauber's sources are strong laxatives. On the other hand the mineral water from the Church Spring is used for healing mild digestive health problems. Water saturated the most with iron could be found in the Ferrous Spring. It is used for healing weariness, overtiredness & anemia.
