Family court proceedings are usually held in private unlike other cases that must be held in public to ensure they are fair. One of the best sources of information about the courts and their influence and governance of parenting is CAFCASS (The Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service). CAFCASS advises the family courts on how they can help protect and support the best interests of children. CAFCASS or a divorce or family solicitor may recommend the use of mediation to resolve family or parenting disputes without the need to involve the court.
